Pet Day is a traditional school event that we are proud to host every year.

Pet Day 2016: results and photos

It is a lovely event for the school and greatly appreciated by our community. Students can bring their pets to school and compete in a number of categories. Lambs, calves, cats, dogs and a great range of other pets will come to Pet Day. We invite members of our community to be judges, and winners receive lovely trophies & prize ribbons donated by local families and businesses. Families are most welcome to attend.

We also host indoor exhibit competitions with the Pet Day theme - sand saucers, miniature farms, vege sculptures, gumboot "art", cooking or flower arranging! Every class does something different, all students will be involved and we try something new every year. Families get to view all entries and the prizewinners during Pet Day.

In recent years, we have also held our own Country Kids Challenge - team sports, with a rural theme, for our senior students!

Pet Day is held early in Term 4 and full information & entry forms will be in the school newsletter. Students will also bring home information about their indoor exhibit competitions.

For great information about raising a calf or lamb for Pet Day, please visit: www.lambandcalf.co.nz - the Facebook pages for the Manawatu Oroua Boys and Girls Ag Lamb and Calf Club.

Pet Day was held on Wednesday 26th October 2016.
" We had a wonderful morning on Wednesday. 97 Pets! Whew. It was wonderful to see so many pets and the big crowd of supporters. Thank you to everyone who supported their children in raising and looking after their various pets. I think it’s a great thing for children to have a pet and the daily responsibility of looking after it. It teaches many life skills that we value. Our thanks to all the wonderful judges and stewards, who did such a thorough and difficult job. We appreciate the time you give to this important job. The indoor exhibits were fantastic. The children had worked hard on all their designs which showed their imaginative skills and creativity. Thanks to our teachers also for all the extra work that goes in to preparing these exhibits for Pet Day. Results & photos are included in the Week 4 newsletter. Thanks also to our PTA for organising the cuppa and BBQ. Your support is much appreciated. Unfortunately the weather was against holding the ‘Country Kids’ Challenge’ competition, so this will be run later this term, most likely at the Athletic Sports."
