Kauri House Matai House Rimu House Totara House

Halcombe School maintains a proud tradition of four school Houses, named for native trees: Kauri, Matai (formerly Kowhai), Rimu and Totara.

Each House is a team of students, Year 0 to Year 8, selected from across the school.  Students are allocated to a House at Enrolment, following family traditions or where spaces are available. Siblings will always be in the same House. Let us know if you do have a preference for your school House!

Senior students act as 'House Leaders'.

Throughout the year there are numerous interhouse events and sports days and each House will cheer on their fellow team members. Houses will meet regularly to practice House chants and develop their House spirit.

In 2015, Miss Dianne Simpson (Room 6 teacher) and her students painted magnificent murals depicting each House. The murals are now proudly displayed in our School Hall and can also be seen above and at the top of all our webpages.
