" Today for Tomorrow "

"National Standards in reading, writing and mathematics provide signposts that give teachers, children, parents, families and whānau
a clear idea of where children are at in their learning and what they have to do next.

From 2010, schools with children in Years 1-8 will be using National Standards in reading, writing and mathematics.
Schools will report to parents, families and whānau in writing at least twice a year on their child's progress and achievement in these areas, in relation to the National Standards."
Ministry of Education

Halcombe School did have concerns about National Standards and their process of introduction to NZ schools but, in 2012, Student Achievement targets have been set against National Standards and form part of of our Charter,
which you can view at our Board of Trustees webpage.

Halcombe School reports regularly to families on student progress via two Three Way Conferences in Term 1 & Term 3,
and a written report at the end of the year. Families are always welcome to discuss their child's learning and "next steps"
with their teacher at any time.
