Inquiry - Our School-wide
Focus for Learning
Every term we focus on a particular topic or
question that students
can answer
through a process of inquiry.
The Process of Inquiry:
Immersion (Tuning In) - Wondering - Finding Out
(Recording & Going Deeper) - Organising (Sorting
Out) -
Evaluating (Making Conclusions) - Reflecting
and Taking Action
(Inventing and “So What?”).
The inquiry process
will link many areas of the
curriculum
and the
key
competencies.
In Term 1 - we
asked "How can I be the BEST me?"
The key understandings
we wanted children to develop and appreciate during
this study were:
We always have choices and all the decisions we
make affect our everyday lives and those around us.
There are lots of factors which influence the
decisions we make.
Positive relationships are important.
By setting goals and motivating ourselves, we are
taking charge of our lives.
In Term 2 - "How can we help endangered animals?"
The key
understandings:
People cause animals to be endangered
(deforestation, urbanisation, poaching, pollution,
predators, by-catch, hunting etc)
People can help animals that are endangered.
It is our responsibility to help.
Endangered animals are everywhere!
